Despite Being Married, Author Chimamanda Adichie Demands She Is Addressed As “Miss” Not “Mrs”, Feminism Gone Too Far?

Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s recent interview in which the award winning author who is married to Ivara Esegee, demanded to be addressed as Miss Chimamanda Adichie not “Mrs.”, has left many speculating about the state of her marriage to her United States based Doctor hubby and if she has taken feminism too far.

In a recent interview with Sunnews Online, Chimamanda who featured on Beyonce’s track #Flawless, bluntly asked not to be called Mrs. Anything!

Chimamanda Adichie: Before we start, please, I just want to say that my name is Chimamanda Adichie. That’s how I want it; that’s how I’m ad-dressed, and it is not Mrs but Miss.  Ms: that’s how I want it. I am saying this, because I just got a mail from my manager this morning. It seems that there are people who attended the church service, and they wrote about it, addressing me as Mrs. Chimamanda (Esega). I didn’t like that at all. So my name is Chimamanda Adichie, full stop!
