A Huge Pile of Waste Appeared at MM International Airport
Many travellers and airport staff experienced shocked on January 13, 2014, Monday, when they saw a huge pile of waste consisting of waste food, empty plastic bottles of soft drinks, canned beer and other waste products under one of the staircases opposite the Port Health Centre of the MMIA.
The waste, which oozed an offensive odour in and around the centre and a passage to the airport’s press centre, was believed to have been dumped at the spot by one of the restaurant’ operators at the international gateway.
Most of the travellers, who were waiting to be vaccinated and pick their international vaccine cards, could not stay at the waiting area because of the stench.

“This is an embarrassment to every Nigerian. How could any sane person dump food waste in a very sensitive place such as the health centre of the airport? This is the height of indiscipline and impunity,” said Akin Akinleye, a British-Nigerian who arrived on a Virgin Atlantic flight and saw the waste.
The waste had not been cleared yet at the time of filing this report. However, P.M.NEWS reported that some officials of the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria have been seen inspecting the spot.
