Fortunately, the experience was much more cordial for Russell than an exchange on his recent Messiah Complex tour, where he was goaded by a heckler.
During a section of the tour which sees him discuss the virtues of Ghandi, the audience member said: 'Gandhi's a c***' to the shock of other attendees.
In his inimitable style, Brand fired back: 'What I've got here is a person who's under the mistaken belief that they're funny,' to howls of laughter from the crowd.
