Polk County Sheriff's traffic deputies are investigating a three-vehicle traffic crash Wednesday afternoon, with one confirmed fatality and serious injuries to others crash victims.
A child from one of the vehicles was airlifted to Tampa General, with serious but not life-threatening injuries, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.
The child's mother was airlifted to Lakeland Regional Medial Center with injuries.
The confirmed fatality is an adult who was in another vehicle.
The crash, involving a maroon GMC Yukon, a gold Honda CRV and a red Ford Mustang occurred at 2:50 p.m. on State Road 33 North near Grimes Road in Polk City.
SR 33 North is shut down in both directions in that area at this time. Traffic is being diverted to Voyles Loop Road.
